A Visit to La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona

I had the absolute privilege to tour La Sagrada Família yesterday bringing my Detroit, MI roots to Barcelona, Spain (as evidenced by the old English D in the below picture).  Antoni Gaudí said, about this unique structure, “The expiatory church of La Sagrada Família is made by the people and is mirrored in them.”  My biggest take-away from the audio-guided tour was the amazing vision that Gaudí had for the creation of this church.  His vision was for its construction to span generations, and for multiple generations to have hands in continuing the vision and its construction with “their own eyes.”  Today the hope is that the construction will be completed in the next 2 decades meaning the construction of La Sagrada Família will have spanned some 8 generations.  As educators, it reminds me why we find great pleasure in serving students, families and each other; perhaps we can have a positive impact on the generations of students for years to come. #MicrosoftGF
